Olugander returns from the US

News - General News

Gander welcome party Dr. Olugander, one of Gambia’s top reggae star, who was last month awarded Gambia's Top Reggae Star 2009 in Atlanta, Georgia, USA, last night arrived at the Banjul Interntional Airport at 5:30pm.

His short trip to the States was basically to receive his accolade. The Gambian reggae superstar was awarded by AGERA (Atlanta Gambians Emergency Relief Association), in recognition of both his past work and particularly the present after the release of his latest album ‘STRONGER DAN BEFORE’.

His super hit single (Little Gambia) from the previous album also entitled Little Gambia, is actually used as the association's festival anthem at each of their annual reunion gatherings held every July 4th, also coinciding with independence celebrations of the United States. Gander's Productions MD, Valentine Banjakey confirmed: " We are expecting Gander back tonight from the US. Basically, we can’t wait to rejoice in a grand manner. I've said it before, it's not everyday you hear about a Gambian artist receiving an international award. We are super thrilled and all that Gander wants is to come back and celebrate with his countless and loyal fans".

Mr. Banjakey also revealed: “We are in talks to organise a sort of 'Welcome back home' party to celebrate and acknowledge the endless support we've received from Gander's ever dedicated fans: AGERA, Africell our sponsors and anyone who has contributed in making the trip a success." Watch out for an exclusive interview here on What's On with Dr. Olugander himself on the next edition.
